Resume Examples by Job — With the Actual Bullet Points

Not thumbnails of pretty layouts — the writing itself. Below are worked experience sections for teachers, medical assistants, CNAs, caregivers, investment banking analysts, and more, each with quantified bullets you can model yours on and a note on what hiring managers in that field screen for.

Worked Examples, Occupation by Occupation

Every example follows the same rule: action verb → what you did → measured result. Swap in your own numbers — even approximate ones beat none. Where a field has a gatekeeping credential (teaching license, CMA, CNA registry, CPhT, flight hours), it goes at the top of the resume, not buried in a skills list.

Teacher Resume Example

4th Grade Teacher — Maplewood Elementary School
2021 – Present · Licensed K–6, Reading Endorsement
  • Raised class reading proficiency from 62% to 81% on state assessments over two years by restructuring literacy blocks around small-group guided reading.
  • Designed a cross-curricular STEM unit adopted by all five 4th-grade sections, reaching roughly 140 students per year.
  • Reduced classroom behavior referrals 40% year-over-year by implementing a tiered PBIS system with weekly student conferences.
  • Doubled parent-teacher conference attendance to 92% by introducing flexible evening slots and translated invitations for ESL families.

What principals screen for: license and grade band first, then evidence you move measurable outcomes — assessment scores, attendance, referrals. "Created engaging lessons" says nothing; the proficiency jump above says everything. If you're early-career, lean on student-teaching data and quantify the classroom itself (28 students, 6 IEPs, 4 ELL levels).

Medical Assistant Resume Example

Certified Medical Assistant — Cedar Grove Family Clinic
2022 – Present · CMA (AAMA), BLS
  • Room and triage 25–30 patients per day across three providers — vitals, histories, EKGs, phlebotomy, and immunizations — with same-day Epic charting.
  • Cut appointment no-show rate from 14% to 9% by instituting next-day confirmation calls and text reminders.
  • Rebuilt vaccine inventory tracking after an expiration write-off, holding waste under 1% for six consecutive quarters.
  • Trained three new MAs on rooming workflow and EHR documentation standards.

What clinics screen for: the credential (CMA/RMA) and the EHR by name — recruiters keyword-search for "Epic" and "Cerner" specifically. Then throughput: patients per day and providers supported tell a practice manager instantly whether you can handle their volume.

CNA Resume Example

Certified Nursing Assistant — Riverbend Skilled Nursing Center
2023 – Present · State Registry #, BLS · 40-bed long-term care unit
  • Provide ADL care — bathing, dressing, feeding, transfers — for 12–14 residents per shift, including Hoyer-lift and two-person transfers.
  • Record vitals and intake/output each shift; escalations of early vital-sign changes contributed to three timely infection interventions this year.
  • Maintained zero resident falls on assigned rooms for 18 months through 15-minute rounding and bed-alarm compliance.
  • Mentor newly certified aides on safe-transfer technique and documentation during their first 90 days.

What directors of nursing screen for: active state registry status, resident load, and safety record. Falls and pressure-injury prevention are the metrics facilities are graded on — a CNA who can claim "zero falls" with a mechanism (rounding) is speaking the DON's language. Name the unit type: long-term care, memory care, med-surg, and hospice all read differently.

Caregiver Resume Example

In-Home Caregiver — Private Client (via Silver Oak Home Care)
2021 – Present · CPR/First Aid · Clean driving record
  • Provide 40 hours/week of sole-charge care for a client with mid-stage Alzheimer's: personal care, meal preparation, mobility support, and structured daily routine.
  • Administer reminders for a 12-medication schedule with zero missed doses in two years, coordinating changes with the visiting nurse and family.
  • Client has had no emergency hospitalizations in 24 months — early symptom reporting flagged two UTIs for treatment at the primary-care stage.
  • Keep daily written care logs shared with the family and agency, credited in two annual reviews as "the reason handoffs work."

What families and agencies screen for: tenure and trust. Long stays with one client outweigh a long list of short ones, and outcomes like "no emergency hospitalizations" are the strongest proof a caregiver resume can offer. Name the conditions you've supported (dementia, post-stroke, mobility impairment) — agencies match caregivers to clients by them.

Investment Banking Resume Example

Investment Banking Analyst — Halloran Partners, Industrials Group
2024 – Present
  • Built three-statement operating models with DCF, LBO, and trading/transaction comps for 10+ live mandates across industrials and business services.
  • Supported execution of a $450M sell-side M&A mandate: drafted the CIM, managed outreach tracking across 60+ counterparties, and ran the data room through diligence.
  • Prepared board presentations and fairness-opinion support materials reviewed directly by MDs with minimal markup.
  • Automated weekly comps refresh in Excel/VBA, saving the deal team an estimated 6 hours per week.

What banks screen for: deal experience with sizes attached, modeling depth, and evidence your work product needed little revision. The format is its own test — one page, conservative serif, no color, no photo. This is the one field where a "modern" template hurts you; use a classic layout from our templates gallery or a Harvard-style LaTeX template.

More Occupations: Nanny, Pharmacy Technician, Pilot

Three more fields where the resume conventions are specific enough to trip up a generic template — with sample bullets and the one thing each employer checks first.

Nanny Resume

  • Sole-charge care for three children (ages 2, 5, 8) for 3+ years: school runs, meals, activities, and homework support.
  • Planned a daily reading-and-play routine that had the youngest meeting all kindergarten-readiness milestones early.
  • CPR/First Aid certified; clean driving record; references from both long-term families.

Checked first: length of each placement and verifiable references. Two 3-year families beat six 6-month gigs; list ages and whether care was sole-charge.

Pharmacy Technician Resume

  • Filled and verified 300+ prescriptions per shift at a high-volume retail pharmacy with a 99.9% accuracy record (CPhT, state licensed).
  • Resolved insurance rejections and prior authorizations, cutting patient wait-time callbacks by roughly a third.
  • Ran monthly inventory and expiry audits, reducing returns-to-stock waste 20%.

Checked first: PTCB certification and state license number, then volume and accuracy. Hospital and retail are different jobs — say which, and name the dispensing systems you've used.

Pilot Resume

  • 1,850 total hours · 320 multi-engine · 210 instrument · Commercial ASEL/AMEL, CFI/CFII (flight-time block at the very top of the page).
  • Instructed 40+ students to checkride with a 95% first-attempt pass rate at a Part 61 school.
  • Zero incidents, violations, or check failures; current first-class medical.

Checked first: the hours table — recruiters at regionals go straight to total time, multi, and turbine before reading a word of prose. Certificates, ratings, and medical class belong above experience, and the whole document stays on one page.

How to Adapt an Example Without Copying It

Treat every bullet above as a sentence frame, not a sentence. The frame for the teacher's first bullet is: raised [metric] from [baseline] to [result] over [period] by [specific change you made]. Your numbers will differ; the shape shouldn't. If you don't track a metric, reconstruct a defensible estimate — count patients on a typical day, pull last year's assessment report, check the schedule you actually worked. "About 25 a day" is honest and specific; a copied "30 patients" you can't back up in an interview is neither.

Two more rules. First, mirror the job posting's vocabulary — if the ad says "long-term care" and your resume says "nursing home," a keyword filter may not connect them; run the finished document through our ATS checker to catch the gaps. Second, keep the format boring: reverse-chronological, standard headings, one to two pages. The resume format guide covers when the exceptions apply.

Weak Bullet, Strong Bullet: Three Rewrites

The gap between a duties list and an achievements list is usually one revision. Here's the same experience written both ways, drawn from the occupations above.

Teacher

"Responsible for teaching reading to 4th grade students."

"Raised class reading proficiency from 62% to 81% in two years by restructuring literacy blocks around small-group guided reading."

The weak version restates the job title. The strong version names the mechanism (what you changed) and the delta (what happened) — the two things every hiring manager is actually buying.

Pharmacy Technician

"Filled prescriptions and helped customers with insurance issues."

"Filled and verified 300+ prescriptions per shift at 99.9% accuracy; resolved insurance rejections and prior authorizations, cutting wait-time callbacks by a third."

"Helped customers" is invisible; volume and an accuracy rate are the exact terms pharmacy managers compare candidates on. Accuracy in particular is a safety metric — leading with it signals you know that.

Caregiver

"Took care of an elderly client with dementia, including medications and meals."

"Provided sole-charge care for a client with mid-stage Alzheimer's for two years — 12-medication schedule with zero missed doses and no emergency hospitalizations."

Care work resists metrics, so the strong version quantifies reliability instead: tenure, medication count, and the hospitalization record. Those are trust numbers, and trust is the product.

Resume Objective Examples: When and How

For most experienced candidates a summary beats an objective — but there are three cases where a resume objective is the right opener: your first job, a career change, or a relocation. The formula: who you are + the specific role + the one thing you bring. Never "seeking a challenging position."

First job / student

"Honor-roll senior with two summers of volunteer tutoring, seeking a part-time sales associate role at Marlowe Books — available weekday evenings and every weekend."

Career change

"Operations coordinator with 6 years of vendor-management experience transitioning into procurement, bringing a track record of 12% average cost reductions across 40+ supplier contracts."

Nursing (new grad)

"BSN graduate (May 2026) with 600 clinical hours across med-surg and ICU rotations, seeking a registered nurse residency position at St. Vincent's — NCLEX passed first attempt."

Resume Example FAQ

Can I copy these bullets into my own resume?+

Copy the structure, never the claims. Every number in your resume must be yours — interviewers probe bullets, and a borrowed metric collapses in the first five minutes. The fastest honest path: upload your current resume to the AI CV builder and let it rewrite your real experience into this bullet shape.

What if my work genuinely has no numbers?+

It has more than you think: how many people, patients, students, or orders per day; how big the team, budget, or caseload; how often something happened before versus after you changed it. Scale counts as quantification even when outcomes are hard to attribute — "supported three providers" and "cared for 12–14 residents per shift" are both numbers.

What resume format do these examples use?+

Reverse-chronological — most recent role first, achievements as bullets underneath. It's what recruiters and ATS parsers expect in all eight occupations on this page. Functional (skills-first) formats are occasionally useful for major career changes; the trade-offs are covered in the resume format guide.

I'm applying for my first job in one of these fields — what replaces experience?+

The credential plus supervised practice. New CNAs list clinical rotation hours and the facility type; new teachers lead with student teaching (with class data); new pharmacy techs list externship volume. Put certifications and training at the top, quantify the practicum the way the examples quantify jobs, and see the student resume guide for structuring the rest.

Do I need a matching cover letter?+

In healthcare, education, and childcare — the fields on this page where trust matters most — yes, it's often read closely. We keep full annotated letters for six professions on the cover letter examples page, and the AI generator writes one from your finished resume in about a minute.
