English-Europass pitfalls to avoid

Auto-translators get most of the CV right and the most important 5% disastrously wrong. Here's where humans (or proper AI) save you.

Job titles translated word-for-word
Fix: A 'Responsabile Commerciale' is not a 'Commercial Responsible' — it's a 'Sales Manager'.
Education levels mistranslated
Fix: An Italian Laurea Magistrale is a Master's degree (EQF 7), not a 'Magisterial Degree'.
Country/city kept in local language
Fix: 'Roma, IT' should become 'Rome, Italy' on an English CV. Capitals get the English exonym.
Date format left as DD/MM/YYYY
Fix: The XML stays ISO 8601 — but display dates can switch to '14 March 1991' or 'March 1991'.
Soft-skill phrases turn awkward
Fix: 'Capacità di problem solving' shouldn't be 'Problem-solving capability'. It's just 'Problem-solving'.
